What is Fibrin Sealant procedure?
Fibrin sealant is produced when concentrated thrombin derived from human plasma is combined with the plasma protein pro-fibrinogen to produce a biologic “glue” made of human fibrin. This sealant is created using a simple injection device that is commercially available.
The sealant can be used for various medical applications, but at AVRSPI, we use it fill cracks in lumbar degenerative discs to promote healing, restore disc height, and help restore the normal chemical environment of the disc. There are several clinical studies and multiple empiric reports that indicate this relatively simple and safe procedure can be beneficial for patients suffering from lower back pain, which is the most common cause of back pain in adults.
